The End of An Era

The thing that I feared the most for about the last 10 years, has come to pass...

I had to put BeeGee down this morning. Just in the last 3 days he started actively dying. It was a really tough weekend. But the timing was right for him to go today.

As Pema Chodron says, "Things don't really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together and fall apart again. It's just like that."

That's exactly what this last three months has been like. And it's been phenomenally stressful for me.

Pema goes on to say, "The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy."

I love you my darling BeeGee. I'll see you again when I cross the Rainbow Bridge.

He has such a strong personality coming through in this picture, almost human. I know this is an immense loss, as deep as the love you shared with him. Peace be with you, my friend.

Dear Connie, so sorry to hear about BeeGee. Our pets mean soooo much to us. You gave BeeGee a wonderful life and you will have sweet, and probably some funny memories that will make you smile as time goes on.

Ahhh, I so feel for you, having gone through something similar with my last dog who had kept me constant company and gotten me through some tough times for 13 years. Those last few months of decline are so difficult for both owner and pet, all the things mentioned here. And the aftermath also what you have mentioned here. Take your time getting through it.

My husband and I have been cat lovers for a very long time. Before, during and even now we have and will continue to experience grief concerning loss. We have 4 cats and whenever we lose one we make sure that within a few months we get another one. It has been one of the best decisions we ever made. My heart is with you during this time but you will not be sorry you got another one. Big hugs, Gina B
