A Decade of Discovery

Today is my 70th birthday. This is mind blowing to me...I still feel 35-40 inside. Well, they say 70 is the new 50, and I think they're right.

The last decade has been one of immense personal growth for me, the one in which I found myself.  I'm in such a different place than I was ten years ago, and I'm profoundly happy about it.

This April will be ten years that I've lived in Rose Cottage/Fortuna. That's longer than I ever lived anyplace else in my life. I've been in Humboldt County for nearly 24 years, a few years longer now than I was in Los Angeles before I left in 1971. So Humboldt is my real home (altho LA will always be my hometown).

I'm close to finished with another pair of socks for myself. And this week I'll start another sweater.

I completed my big stamp-collection project over the weekend, that I've been working on since November. I have a pretty awesome collection now, having pulled all the stamps out of the stock books and small albums I got in the fall, and putting them in the larger albums. Plus a ton of stamps left over to use in collages, etc.

And today is beautiful (albeit cold) on the North Coast, a break between rainstorms.

Hope you're all having a lovely February! xx

Happy Birthday! I find it staggering also to realize how old I am, 3 yrs behind you. Just crazy. Ah well, only as old as you feel, they say. Some mornings that's pretty old but most of the time it's a good deal younger than I am. Hope you had a great day.

Happy Birthday. I'm 67 and I feel the same way you do about your age. Sometimes I try to remember how I thought and felt about things 20 years ago. I'm pretty sure that I have mellowed out. The Serenity Prayer is my mantra.

We raised one of our grandsons who is 24. He moved to the Medford Oregon area. The west coast is more suitable for him than our ultra conservative Indiana. We'd go too, but the cost of living holds us here. I'm pretty sure our money goes a lot father here.

I am so happy that you are in a better mindset than 10+ years ago.
xx, Carol

I'm a few years behind you but just the other day, I too was thinking I still think of myself being in my 40's. The body keeps coming up with reasons to acknowledge my actual age but one can't deny what the mind is feeling! These are great collages and I like hearing about your other accomplishments recently, and your whole attitude about where life has led you. Enjoy your birthday and the brief bit of sunshine!

Glad to read about your birthday being a happy one and you are in such a good place. I'm ahead of you by (4) and I have only noticed the addition of an occasional power nap! Enjoy your sunshine, home and projects!

Happy belated birthday Connie! It sounds like you are in a good place with your life and that's a good way to be. I'm four years behind you. Loving your collages as always. Your images and the way you compose them are interestingly wonderful! Keep up the good work!
