Happy Hallowe'en

I'm having a four-day 10 Percent Off Everything sale in my Etsy Shop, now through October 31.  Use coupon code "Oct31" at checkout to get the discount.

It was another quiet week for me.  I read mostly.  I've been having heart palpitations regularly again, and they knock me back when they happen.  There's nothing wrong with my heart; it's anxiety.  It usually hits when I least expect it, when I'm feeling mellow and not outwardly bothered by anything..."outwardly" being the operative word here.

I suspect anxiety is at epidemic levels these days.  There's so much to be upset about.  I keep having this conversation with myself about how really grateful I am for everything in my life, how "charmed" my life is, despite its difficulties, compared with the majority of people on the planet, how I'm really not lacking anything, etc....so why do I feel so distraught most of the time these days?  There's no answer to this rhetorical question.  It just is, this is just the way it is these days.

Have an enjoyable Hallowe'en.  Do some early holiday shopping in my Etsy Shop, and save 10% through October 31.

xx

Quiet Times

I love this time of year.  I love the late afternoons/early evenings, the slanted rays of the setting sun, lighting candles, purple and orange twilights.

The quiet suits me.  I've been spending less time online these days.  Minding my own business as much as I can.  Trying to not get overwhelmed with the general state of distress in the world.

Don't miss all the wonderful goodies I have for sale in my Etsy Shop...there's something for everyone, all made by moi.

Be well, have a good week. xx

Tumultuous Times

It's been a tumultuous week in California.  Wildfires have taken out huge swaths of the Napa Valley, parts of the city of Santa Rosa and other places in Sonoma County, and rural areas of Mendocino County.  It's all happening, still, south of me by about 150 miles, a huge devastation for so many people and businesses.

The fires took out internet and phone service for most of us north of the Bay Area for two days.  It was absolutely amazing that AT&T got us all back online in such a short period of time.

I finally was able to get all the rest of the items listed for sale in my Etsy Shop.  So if you've been waiting to shop or check out my offerings, now would be a good time.

More good reads from the last couple weeks:
The Ecliptic by Benjamin Wood, and
The Patriots by Sana Krasikov, which I'm reading now.

I've been in a quiet sort of mood.  All the things happening in these times, the gestalt of it all, is so overwhelming.  I simply cannot imagine what it must be like for those millions of people worldwide who are really being affected.  My heart and soul go out to them all.

Hope you have a good week.  Check out my Etsy Shop.  xx

Retrospective

Looking back at my artmaking over the last 20 years, I realized recently that I've created a huge body of work in numerous media...

Spinning
Weaving
Knitting
Beaded jewelry
Art quilting
Bookmaking
Painting
Collage
Hand Stitching

And I decided to put A LOT of it up for sale in my Etsy Shop.  I have work available there, or will have when I finish listing everything, in every one of those categories.

I'm calling this my 20-Years-of-Artmaking Retrospective Sale, and it will continue through January.

What I'm NOT selling, however, are these recent collages and art journals.  But there are a few handmade books available that include earlier collages of mine among their pages.

I alluded here not long ago to the ever-increasing costs of living vs. my small fixed income.  One of you lovelies suggested I join Patreon, and take subscribers to the blog.  I did research that, but decided that having to ongoingly create saleable content (saleable via subscriptions) is just not my thing, not at this point in my life.

So I'm selling off a lot of my previously held-back artwork instead.  I do hope you'll think about supporting me in this way if you're able to.  And remember, the holidays are right around the corner ~ it's not too early to do your gift shopping in my Etsy Shop.

-----

Yesterday I attended an annual rummage sale in Eureka, and I got a slew of old children's books, mostly numerous Raggedy Ann & Andy books.  I haven't decided yet whether I'll cut them up.  They might be too dear, although none of them are extremely old editions.  These are from the 1960s.

One that I didn't get, though, which was the only Johnny Gruelle book I think I had as a kid, was Raggedy Ann & Andy and the Camel With the Wrinkled Knees.  I hope to find that one someday.  Could probably buy it from Eureka Books ~ they have a terrific vintage children's book section. But I think I'll just be on the lookout for it.  If I'm meant to have it, it'll find its way to me.

Hope you have a good week.  Do visit my sale at Etsy, and please keep going back because still I've got another 40 items to list. xx
