Recently Gifted

I created this journal for a dear friend in GA who was recently diagnosed with cancer.  Her chemo starts today and the journal arrived yesterday, just in time.

The book is 9 x 6 inches.  The cover- and endpapers are from a book of fashion designs by Roberto Capucci.  He worked exclusively in silk.  My friend is a textile designer (among other things)...these luscious papers were a no-brainer for her special journal.

The book is filled with recycled papers, mostly from art/craft publications, and includes numerous pockets and fold outs.  The book is bound with the Lightning Bolt stitch, my go-to stitch for two-signature journals.

Use it well my friend.  Write your way back to excellent health.

What a great gift for her. When she's too tired to journal, just *looking* at it will make her feel a bit better. Good on you.

What a beautiful thought and beautiful gift. It does help to write about the problems and let everything out. Since you are across the country from her, this will bring you close to her.

'Your friend' truly appreciates this incredible work-of-art-and-the-heart journal. She (I) wrote in it yesterday morning before the chemo even began. I will buy several colorful pens to brighten up my entries. I am so touched by your generous gift, and it will indeed help to center me before, during, and after my treatments....and then on through surgery and recovery.
It was great to 'chat' with you yesterday during my infusions. They first gave me IV decadron, which gradually sent me flying higher than a kite - which wasn't all bad - and then the big boys! I'm coming down today, but everything is a bit fuzzy.
I hope people will understand if I emailed them crazy messages yesterday! AAARGH!

Thank you again for you lovely book. It is a gift that I will treasure forever!

xxoo
