Just For Fun

This is my One Thousandth Post here on this blog!  Pretty amazing.  I really appreciate that you've all been along for the ride.  I love blogging and look forward to keeping at it for the duration.

The winner of the giveaway quilt is ~ Kristin Freeman, number 25 of the 29 entries received.  Congrats Kristin -- send me your snail mail address and your quilt will be on its way early next week.

So, about this quilt ~ in preparation for the latest Fiberactions challenge I wanted to try my hand at slice-and-dice type quilts.  This was a test to see if I like the technique.  I had no old quilt blocks to chop up, so I started by putting together a big piece of aqua and purple strips.  Then I cut that up, added black and white fabrics, cut again, etc.  I had enough of the original cloth of strips that I have two finished quilts, each 18 inches square.  This one is quilted with teal thread, the other with magenta.

I do like the technique and have plans for other quilts with modifications in the process.  I normally do raw edge piecing and applique, so all these finished seams were actually a treat.

Have a wonderful Friday -- it's raining here on the North Coast today.  I'll be back this weekend with a new collage.

Connie, congratulations on your 1000th!!! And to the lucky winner of your give away. Slice/dice process is quite fun and addictive - I like your combination of black and white prints with the colors. Have a great weekend, sus

Congratulations Kristin! Congratulations Connie! 1000 posts and I've enjoyed them all. Thank you for sharing your art and world with me. Have you thought about adding a gentle curve to your slice and dice? It can be habit forming! LOL! Wishing you a beautiful weekend. It will be a wet one here too, but maybe I'll get caught up on indoor projects - ha!

Hi, Connie. Congrats for the 1000th post--wow! I don't think I can live long enough to produce that much! I liked the combination of prints with the other fabrics. Lucky Kristin.

Lucky Kristin! And Connie, you are a wonder! I don't know how many of the 1000 I have been blessed to read, but I have enjoyed them immensely, and look forward to the next 1000! I'm with Susan... slice and dice can be addictive, and I sure like what you did with these two! There's always something new to try, huh? Enjoy!

Love the slice and dice. You kinda stepped out of the box, I think. I am glad to hear you aren't going to quit at 1000 - my day wouldn't start off right without your blog!!
