The Big 6-0

Today is my 60th birthday...and here's my "centerfold" morning collage. Notice a little photo of me, actually from 1979, atop the body of the b & w newsprint image on the left page. Most of the other images are recognizable (or not) works by other artists. All, though, represent aspects of who or what I imagined myself to be at 60. So we'll see how that pans out!

So the way I figure it, I'm 2/3 of the way through my life. I keep thinking that I want to really enjoy the next 30 years, and live these coming years differently from the last 60, qualitatively different. I'm sitting here doing a "quick & dirty" list of goals for the rest of my life, and what comes off the top of my head is to
  • make as much art as I can, joyfully
  • have a happy home, wherever and however big or small that may be
  • keep things as simple as possible, get down to or back to basics
  • give love and receive love
  • be as close to nature as I can
  • stop worrying and trust that everything always works out

Trust is my word for this year, I just remembered (!), and today, especially, would be a good day for me to renew my commitment to live in trust. And not be attached. And be open to whatever the Universe has in store for me. And accept it gratefully and gracefully.

So Happy Birthday to me, Pisces/Virgo/Scorpio woman!

Hippo Birdy, Connie. You are the same age as my baby sister. I wanted to touch base with you on our trip through Humboldt county, but I was not sure of our time since we were stopping in Coos Bay. I was thinking about you as we enjoyed out great meal at the Oberon Cafe.

I have been following your blog for a while now and am so impressed by your beautiful work. It gives me pleasure just to look at it. I was struck by your goals for your next 30 years as they are in sync with mine - especially the issue of trust. I call i t confidence and patience. Confidence that everything will turn our well and for the best. And patience to allow it all to happen. So, I wish you a very happy birthday and at least 30 more years of making lots more of your wonderful art. And 30 more years of peace, love and happiness.

HB2U, dear Connie. You're a pisces?? My husband claims that he's an Aquarius because he had his chart done one year and the astrologist told him that the year he was born, Feb 18 was in Aquarius. Go figure.

Have a wonderful year!

I can't believe I missed your birthday post! (along with everybody's posts) I love your list! As I move towards the last years of my 60's I have to say this has been my favorite decade. You are coming into your own now....
