Another Successful Experiment

Silk habotai shibori sampleThis just in...an experiment from late yesterday, that I left to dry overnight. A small piece of habotai silk hand stitched for mokume shibori (mokume = wood grained), painted with dye two colors of green before gathering, left to dry, gathered, wetted out, overpainted with purple dye on both sides, then painted ridges of one side with thinned metallic fabric paint. Awesome, if I do say so myself!

Connie, your work is stunning. I found your blog from the complex cloth list, and I am never disappointed when you show a new piece of work.

Thank you so much, Gerrie. I love the encouragement!

That is so beautiful. It has the feeling of an aerial photo, looking down on water, or mountain ranges seen from far above. I think it's that organic quality that I love in your work.
